The Saint Juan Diego Institute for Pastoral Spanish and Hispanic Ministry was established in response to one of the most significant pastoral realities facing the Catholic Church in the United States: the rapid growth of Hispanic Catholic communities and the increasing need for clergy who can minister effectively in Spanish and with cultural understanding.
Located in the historic city of Querétaro, Mexico, the Institute offers an immersive academic, spiritual, and cultural formation experience that equips priests, deacons, seminarians, religious, and pastoral leaders to serve Hispanic communities with greater confidence and pastoral effectiveness.
To prepare Catholic clergy and pastoral leaders to proclaim the Gospel more effectively through pastoral Spanish proficiency, intercultural competence, and authentic pastoral formation.
To become a leading international Catholic institute dedicated to forming ministers capable of serving Hispanic communities with excellence, compassion, and fidelity to the mission of the Church.

Saint Juan Diego is a symbol of encounter, evangelization, and intercultural dialogue. His witness reminds us that the Gospel flourishes when faith is communicated with humility, respect, and love for every culture. Inspired by his example, the Institute seeks to build bridges between cultures and strengthen pastoral ministry through language and authentic human encounter.
Querétaro offers the ideal setting for pastoral Spanish immersion. A historic Catholic city with a rich cultural heritage, welcoming communities, and a safe environment, it provides an authentic Spanish-speaking experience where students can learn, reflect, and grow in their pastoral mission.
We believe language learning is most effective when integrated with daily life, prayer, pastoral practice, and cultural immersion. Students are not only taught Spanish—they experience it in classrooms, parishes, liturgical celebrations, community outreach, and everyday interactions
